Jasmine + Victor

"Victor and I had initially planned on foregoing a traditional ceremony for a quick trip to the courthouse, but my mother convinced us otherwise.

The days leading up to our wedding I received SO many pieces of advice. A lot of questions too. At my final fitting the seamstress asked me if this would be my second marriage, because my dress was black. Multiple people asked, "Are you ready?" with a creepy look in their eyes and the #1 question that I received was, "Nervous yet?" I was so afraid of the moment that the nervousness would hit. I anticipated it but wasn't sure how I would handle it. The morning of our big day came and still no nervousness. To see me go about my day, a stranger would not think that I was getting married. I spent the morning casually watching You Tube videos, had breakfast in my hotel and upon returning to my room I realized that the nerve issue wouldn't be MY problem...it would be my mother's. She sat at the foot of the bed crying and for the most part spent the remainder of the day in and out of crying spells. I was so thankful and surprised that things were flowing along smoothly as I had heard enough wedding horror stories. I had my something old, new, borrowed and blue and even put a penny in my shoe (which I later found out that it was in the wrong shoe).

I. Was. Ready. After arriving at the venue the best man jokingly offered me one last chance to run away. I eagerly declined. Reality hit as my dad escorted me into the ceremony. I was REALLY getting married! Hard to believe for me because just a few years earlier I was convinced that it would never happen, yet here I was about to make a commitment to God and to a man. Side note: For whatever reason I thought that Victor wasn't going to show. Lol My wedding day was SO MUCH fun and stress free (except for those few moments I thought Victor wouldn't show). After such an enjoyable day with great vendors that made it flow with ease I'm glad that I listened to my mother and had the formal ceremony." –Jasmine
